Kharma Grimes

Kharma Grimes is an artist based out of Orlando, Florida. She began her dance training with Performer's Edge Dance Company focusing on ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz, and hip-hop. She then continued her studies at Harrison School for the Arts, where she earned her ABT certification in levels 3A and 3B, as well as being granted the opportunity to choreograph Harrison’s all-school musical, West Side Story. She has earned her BFA in dance from Sam Houston State University, where she had the opportunity to work closely with Sidra Bell (SBDNY) and Elijah Alhadji Gibson (Gus Giordano.) During her breaks from SHSU, Kharma trained in Los Angeles at the Gaga Intensive winter course, as well as BODYTRAFFIC’s summer intensive. She has had the opportunity to work with Bret Esterling, (Batsheva Dance Company) James Vu Anh Pham, (Chunky Move and Akram Khan) and Chris Evans (Hofesh Schechter.) She has also performed and participated in other festivals such as Tap into the Network (Los Angeles, CA), Florida Dance Festival (Tampa, FL) and {254} Dance Fest (Waco, TX) and Dance Gallery (Houston, TX/New York.) She is currently thrilled to be a company member of Social Movement Contemporary Dance based in Houston, TX under the instruction of Elijah Alhadji Gibson. She is deeply passionate about teaching and sharing her love for movement with the dance community.
